The importance of science for our society is considerable, as it not only enables progress and innovation, but is also linked to the responsibility of pursuing sustainable development goals. We integrate the principles of sustainable development into our research work and this is reflected in all our projects. Everything starts with materials - and this is where our expertise lies.

In the areas of energy, environment and health, we focus on the substitution of critical materials and the use of environmentally friendly processes.
Material and process innovations enable the economical use of resources. We develop solutions that enable the sustainable and responsible use of resources and pave the way for an innovative economy. Together with our customers and partners, we create sustainable and competitive solutions.

For us, sustainability primarily means researching sustainable solutions. With regard to climate-neutral research and work, it is also necessary to take into account the factors in the surroundings.

At Fraunhofer ISC, we take a holistic view of research and management - in economic, ecological and social terms. We focus on strategies and activities to achieve the goals we have set ourselves for more sustainable research and work. To this end, we are guided by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Fraunhofer's own Fraunhofer Climate Neutral 2030 initiative.
