Materials Analysis / Materials Testing

© Fraunhofer ISC

At the various Fraunhofer ISC locations in Würzburg, Bronnbach, Bayreuth and Alzenau, a wide range of methods for characterization, analysis and testing is available. We select the optimal measurement methods for our customers depending on the problem at hand and the field of application. The central contact for analytical questions is the Center for Applied Analytics ZAA in Würzburg. It coordinates analytics within the ISC Group and provides the contact person for the respective problem.

The Center for Applied Analytics ZAA of the Fraunhofer ISC in Würzburg is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018, the Center for High Temperature Lightweight Construction HTL in Bayreuth is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001.

Our procedures

  • Mechanical test methods (breaking strength, compressive strength, tensile strength)
  • Tribological test methods (e.g. abrasion resistance by chewing simulation)
  • Optical test methods (voltage, transmission, reflection, absorption)
  • Microlaboratory in a scanning electron microscope for property analysis on a microscale (e.g. electrical conductivity)
  • Battery test method
  • Measurement of magnetic properties (PPMS, VSM, Kerr microscope)
  • Material testing under various climatic conditions, including thermo-optical measuring systems (e.g. Klima-TOM)
  • Cell-based assays - test environments for the analysis and evaluation of active substances
  • Measurement of thermal properties (thermal expansion, glass transition, etc.)
