Discover the future of hydrogen

Visit the Fraunhofer Hydrogen Network booth C4 in hall 11 at the European Hydrogen Week from November 18-22, 2024 in Brussels for an informative exchange about our know-how in the field of hydrogen. Together with other Fraunhofer institutes, the ISC presents groundbreaking innovations and solutions for the sustainable energy supply of the future.

Green hydrogen is considered a climate-friendly alternative to conventional energy sources and is a key element in replacing fossil fuels in the long term. When dealing with hydrogen, adhering to stringent safety standards is of utmost importance, as this odorless gas presents potential explosion risks upon its release.

Together with the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Fraunhofer ISC has developed hydrogen sensors based on low-cost supraparticles that can detect and visualize gas leakage within a few seconds. This could significantly improve occupational safety when handling H₂ in the future.

Another topic we will present at our booth are novel oxygen/hydrogen barrier coatings based on ORMOCER®. These can be used as protective coatings on the tanks and pipes used in the production of hydrogen to prevent corrosion.
